Project Overview

Set just 100 metres from the coastline in Buddina, Mawarra is a contemporary beachside residence defined by scale, precision and a refined material palette. Soaring volumes, architectural curves and expansive glazing create a strong sense of openness, while natural stone brings warmth, texture and permanence throughout the home.

Matarazzo Dolomite and Capanna Marble form an integral part of the interior language, selected to complement bespoke cabinetry, engineered oak and the home’s restrained tonal palette. Rather than being treated as a finishing layer, stone is used as an architectural element – bringing depth, movement and individuality to the spaces it inhabits.

Designed by JSTN / JDZ Projects and delivered by Mitchelton Homes, Mawarra balances dramatic proportions with carefully resolved detailing, creating a residence that feels luxurious yet understated, contemporary yet enduring.

Design Details

01

Material Palette

A considered combination of Matarazzo Dolomite, Capanna Marble, engineered oak and refined neutral finishes creates an interior with warmth, depth and a distinctly contemporary character.
02

Architectural Stone

Natural stone is used beyond conventional benchtop applications, becoming part of the architecture itself and reinforcing the scale and permanence of the residence.
03

Volume + Light

A seven-metre void, three-metre ceilings, oversized skylights and expansive glazing allow natural light to move through the home, highlighting the tonal variation and texture of the stone.
04

Crafted to Endure

Material selection and detailing are deliberately restrained, allowing the inherent character of the natural stone to lead and creating spaces designed to age with grace.
